Palio of Siena
Twice each year in the heart of Tuscany the Palio of Siena horse race is run against the stunning backdrop of Siena's Piazza del Campo. This story allows guests to immerse themselves in the history, traditions and medieval fanfare of the event while learning and fully appreciating Siena's oldest tradition. After a private walking tour of Siena, witness the sacred 'Blessing of the Horse'. Then, your guide will lead you to your outdoor seat near the 'mossa' (starting line) in Piazza del Campo - the perfect vantage point from which to take in the costumes, music and flag-throwing events that make up the Corteo Storico.
After the conclusion of the Corteo, you'll hold your breath as the starting lineup is drawn and the horses are ridden into the piazza. You'll watch in awe and cheer for your favourite contrada as the race begins. At the conclusion of the race, your guide will help you join in the revelry and will then lead you to an historic restaurant in Piazza il Campo where you'll enjoy an authentic Tuscan dinner, right beside the track.
