Montserrat picnic: Hidden Path
Starting at the Boqueria Market, the most important market in Spain, we'll select a group of unique gastronomic products that we'll take with us to the next stop: the mountains of Montserrat. One of the most iconic mountain ranges in the Iberic Peninsula, Montserrat's unique features and characteristic geology have granted Montserrat a singular place in Catalunya's history and tradition.
The Monastery of Montserrat is one of the epicenters of Catalan culture, and the countless walls and rocky features have long since attracted a committed and growing crowd of local rock climbers. But it is still a pleasure to just walk through these peaks and appreciate the privileged views that Montserrat has to offer.
Departing from Montserrat's Monastery, we follow an easy trail traversing the steep slopes behind the temple, passing next to some of Montserrat's characteristic rocky formations. As the trail gains altitude, it gradually flattens until we arrive to Sant Jeroni's Chapel. From there, a short and easy hike will take us to Sant Jeroni's Peak, Montserrat's highest point, where we can enjoy a privileged vantage point that, with good visibility, stretches as far as the the Pyrenees and the island of Mallorca.
